PREMATURE EJACULATION

HEALTH TIPS

Premature ejaculation (PE) is a fairly common complaint among men in Nigeria , as it is in many other parts of the world. Sometimes however it is an expression that is used wrongly, especially in confusion with the related problem of eractile dysfunction.

It is very common to hear many herbal medicine vendors and hawkers in Nigeria describe their products as being efficacious in treating premature ejaculation. This is mostly of course a marketing slogan, an attempt to capitalize on the fact that a large number of men in Nigeria suffer from this ailment to sell their products. Most of the time of course, these products have nothing to do with premature ejaculation treatment.

What is Premature Ejaculation ?

Premature ejaculation is also known as rapid ejaculation, rapid climax, premature climax , or early ejaculation. It is ejaculation occurring before either of the partners is ready for it. Premature ejaculation is uncontrolled ejaculation either before or shortly after sexual penetration , with minimal sexual stimulation and before the person wishes. It may result in an unsatisfactory sexual experience for both partners. Premature ejaculation has also been described as ejaculation occurring within about two minutes of commencement of penetrative sexual intercourse.

Premature Ejaculation can be differentiated between two types. Primary, which is present from the time a male, begins puberty, and secondary which is acquired later in the man's life. Premature Ejaculation may be further divided between: Global  premature Ejaculation, which occurs in certain situation or with specific partners.

It is important to note that occasional problems with premature ejaculation that are not persistent or recurrent or are not accompanied by marked distress or interpersonal difficulty do not qualify for the diagnosis of premature ejaculation.

                                Symptom

The main symptom of premature ejaculation is an uncontrolled ejaculation either before or shortly after intercourse begins.

Difference between PE and ED.

Although most men, close to 50% suffering from premature ejaculation also have erectile dysfunction, the two conditions are different entities.

PE is sometimes confused with erectile dysfunction (ED; impotence), a condition where the man cannot achieve or maintain an erection suitable for sexual intercourse. Men with PE ejaculate with a rigid erection while men with ED  may lose their erection prior to ejaculation. Unlike ED , PE is not frequently associated with serious underlying medical conditions like heart disease or diabetes, although it is possible to have both PE and ED.

How do we know what is Premature Ejaculation ? Subjectivity versus objectivity.

It's important to note that many men wish that they could sometimes 'last longer ' during sexual intercourse even though they don't have PE (premature ejaculation).. There is no such thing as a normal time to ejaculation because it varies so much between men and even varies for the same man with different partners, situations etc . some studies have shown that the average time to ejaculation is around 7 minutes, but if your time to ejaculation is usually well over 1 minute and is not causing you bother , you probably don't have PE (premature ejaculation).
