Tension in Osun as Assembly set to probe Justice Oloyede

Osogbo—There is  tension in Osun State as the House of Assembly is set to probe Justice Folahanmi Oloyede’s petition against Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
Justice Oloyede had, in her petition, asked the House to commence impeachment proceedings of Governor Rauf Aregbesola and his deputy, Mrs Titilayo Laoye-Tomori over alleged mismanagement of the state resources. This is causing both the ruling All Progressives Congress and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to engage in hot verbal attacks over today’s appearance of Justice Folahanmi Oloyede before the state House of Assembly to defend her petition before the investigation committee set up by the House.
Meantime, the APC yesterday directed that its supporters, who have no business at the state House of Assembly should not go there as Justice Oloyede appears before the assembly panel today.
The party also alleged that the PDP was “planning a demonstration to usher in Justice Olamide Oloyede into the House.”
The APC in a statement by its spokesperson, Mr Kunle Oyatomi, said: “We have it on good information that the PDP is planning to use the opportunity to cause mayhem as they had always planned.
“We call on the security agencies, to again be on alert so that evil minded people will not breach the peace.”
The party has also called on all its cadre and mobilisers to ensure that none of their supporters venture around the premises of the state assembly.
But reacting, the Peoples Democratic Party, in a statement by Prince Diran Odeyemi, said: “PDP members won’t go there tomorrow. And we have told all our members to avoid the premises of the House of Assembly as much as possible.
“But our security sources have informed us that 40 members of the notorious group called State Boys, who will be dressed in PDP colours that will be led by a man called Carlos will ambush Justice Oloyede and attack her near the gate of the House of Assembly.
“We are saying this to the entire world now. Though we don’t believe in the committee working on the allegations against Mr. Aregbesola but as law abiding party, PDP will not be involved in any unlawful act.”
‘Buhari shielding gov’
A human rights group, Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State CSCEOS, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of allegedly shielding Governor Rauf Aregbesola from investigation by the anti-graft bodies over allegation of criminal financial mismanagement of the state funds leveled against him by Justice Oloyede Folahanmi.
Addressing newsmen in Osogbo yesterday, chairman of the group, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi, wondered why both Governor Aregbesola and his deputy, Mrs. Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori are yet to be investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission ICPC, nearly two months of receipt of the petition.
Justice Oloyede had, in her petition to the state House of Assembly, copies of which were also sent to both EFCC and ICPC, told the parliament to initiate impeachment process against the governor and his deputy over their alleged involvement in mismanagement of state resources since coming to power in 2010.
