IS THIS BRITAIN'S MOST FLAMBOYANT FLAT? ASTONISHING FOUR-BED LONDON APARTMENT DECORATED IN MARBLE, MURALS AND MIRRORS GOES UP FOR RENT AT £20,000 A MONTH

  • The liquor cabinet and its contents may actually be more expensive than the £20,000-per-month rent for the North Gate property

  • AMAZING STORIES

  • .The £4.75m property in North Gate, London, has been transformed over the past five years with no expense spared

  • .Rooms are adorned with elaborate murals, chrome-plated walls, chandeliers and gold-tinged furniture

  • .It has 2,600sq ft of space making it larger than most family houses in London, but comes with a £30,000 deposit

  • .The building overlooks Regent's Park and is close to The American School in London and Lord's Cricket Ground

  • It is not to everyone's taste - but this flamboyant apartment decorated with marble and elaborate murals has gone up for rent at £20,000 per month.
From the outside, North Gate is a typical luxury mansion block overlooking Regent's Park in London.
But the moment you open the front door you are met with a 'breathtaking' four-bedroom flat which has undergone a no-expense-spared overhaul.

Over a five-year period, the flat has been transformed with marble flooring and walls covered with nature-themed murals.

Chandeliers hang from the ceiling and the furniture is covered with mirrors and glass. The dining table chairs have door knockers on the back.

The effervescent apartment has now gone onto the rental market for £5,000 per week, or £21,666 per month.
Sophie Barham, lettings valuer at Foxtons St John's Wood, said: 'This is certainly one of the most luxurious apartments I have come across in my career so far.
The furniture in this room seems to be designed to make it appear bigger with see through shelves and mirrored cupboards

'The owners completely gutted the apartment and spent about five years getting it to the amazing standard it is today.
'I was completely blown away when I walked into the property for the first time, having never seen anything like it before and even when I go back it still never fails to stun me.'
The apartment would cost around £4.75 million if it was offered for sale.

And since the stamp duty changes in December 2014, a number of estate agents have reported a rise in the number of people looking to rent at this level rather than buy.

This is because stamp duty alone would be £483,000 - enough to cover the rent for almost two years.

The flat has 2,600 sq/ft of accommodation which makes it larger than many family houses in the capital.

It is in a portered mansion block and is managed by Foxtons. Tenants must pay a £30,000 deposit.

Sophie added: 'With porter service, four bedrooms, The American School in London just minutes away and a location literally opposite Regent's Park, this apartment will likely be snapped up by a family relocating to London for work purposes.

'The response has been great and very enthusiastic. The apartment offers a unique sense of style and living. Those who have seen it love it.'
