  • A seven-month-old baby whose heart is leaking blood desperately needs surgery within the next two months or this could be her last Christmas.

  • Zee Makuwaza was born with several heart conditions that lay undetected until she suddenly became ill and fainted at five months old.

  • She now needs open-heart surgery as soon possible to close the three holes in her heart and stop it from leaking blood.

  • Doctors have told her mother, Lorraine Muchapa, 31, that within eight weeks she will be inoperable, and they will have to watch her die.

  • But the hospital waiting list is too long for her to have the procedure in time, so her parents are putting all their efforts into raising money for a private operation to save their daughter's life.

  • Doctors have said if she doesn't have the procedure within eight weeks she will be inoperable, and her mother Lorraine Muchapa, 31 and father will have to watch her die

  • Mrs Muchapa, a teacher, said: 'Zee's smile will just melt your heart - everyone who looks at her falls in love.

  • 'But now she is in so much pain. We are very desperate.'
  • 'It would mean the world to me to be able to raise the funds needed for her operation in the next couple of months.

  • There's nothing more I want. I would do anything.'

  • Doctors have told her Zee only has two months before she becomes inoperable because if she develops pulmonary hypertension, raised blood pressure in the arteries that supply the lungs, they can't operate on her.
